Travel anywhere in the country, and the electricity powering homes and businesses may look the same. But behind the power lines, the organizations delivering that electricity can be very different. At Darke Rural Electric Cooperative, we’re proud to be different — and we believe that difference matters.

Unlike investor-owned utilities that focus on profits for shareholders or public power companies governed by municipalities, electric cooperatives like Darke REC exist solely to serve the people at the end of the line — our members. We are guided by one clear mission:
“Empowering our community through safe, reliable and affordable electricity to enhance the lives of our members.”

That’s not just a statement on the wall. It’s how we approach every decision, every day.

Our employees aren’t strangers — they’re your neighbors. Our board of directors isn’t made up of corporate executives — it’s made up of your fellow cooperative members, elected to represent your interests. Every investment we make, every program we offer, every conversation we have, is rooted in the understanding that this cooperative belongs to you.

And when you need us, we’re here.

When you call 937-548-4114 during our regular business hours — Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. — your call is answered by our local staff. Whether you have a question about your account, need assistance with energy efficiency programs, or want to report an issue, you’ll speak directly with someone who lives in your community and is ready to help.

Outside of business hours, your call will be directed to our after-hours support center to ensure emergencies are addressed quickly.
